I was born and raised in a working class area of Nairobi, popularly known as Eastlands. My family had enough to provide us with the basics - a home, food, clothing and education. This was not the case for many people around us who lacked the most basic of necessities we enjoyed - food, shelter, proper sanitation, health care, education and clothing.
I owe much of what I am today including a 3rd level education to the generosity of others, especially friends from across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Jengana is a charity based in Kenya that seeks to see many children, young people and adults, whose environment is one of poverty, hardship, inequality and suffering, find hope. Further information about Jengana can be found here https://jengana.com/
I am running the Belfast marathon as part of the Jengana team. I hope to give something back to support the next generation of Kenyan children and young people whose experiences are familiar to me. The marathon will allow the team to raise funds to help support and grow key projects run by Jengana including the provision of food, shelter and access to education.
Each and every donation no matter what size, will make a difference to help the children and families supported by Jengana.
Please, help us in this worthy cause by making a difference to those in need. Thanks and God bless you all.
