Back in April this year, when I was training to run a leg of Belfast City Marathon, I quietly signed up to run the Belfast Half Marathon. This has been a huge journey in fitness and running for me and for a long time I didn't tell people that I'd signed up incase it didn't happen!
The big day is so close now, the 21st September, and I'm excited and nervous to take on this challenge for Jengana! This distance is a mental battle which has required tremendous commitment and determination in training and I'm proud to be able to take it on to benefit 'Jacob' who lives in Mukuru kwa Njenga slum in Kenya.
Jacob is 12 years old and despite desperate poverty at home, he is repeatedly top of his class and has so much potential. Without help, Jacob's family will not be able to see him progress past the end of primary school which is heartbreaking when education is really the only means to getting yourself out of the slum environment.
I'd be so delighted to help Jacob get to a good school which would make my difficult training worthwhile! If you can spare even a few pounds I'd appreciate it so very much!
(If we receive more than we need for Jacob's school fees I will donate the remainder to another child's support).
